What this means
Membership of a government-authorised redress scheme is a legal requirement for letting agents and property professionals operating in the UK. It gives our clients — landlords, tenants, and partners alike — an independent route to resolve disputes if they ever feel internal escalation hasn't gone far enough.
What PRS does
- Reviews unresolved complaints between consumers and member firms
- Examines the documentary trail and our internal handling of the matter
- Issues an independent decision, including (where appropriate) financial awards up to £25,000
- Holds members publicly accountable through annual conduct reporting
When to contact PRS
You should escalate to PRS only after you've followed our internal complaints procedure and received a final viewpoint, or after eight weeks have passed since your initial complaint — whichever is sooner. See our Complaints Procedure for the full route.
